Why I chose to edit these photos in black and white

The quick answer is lighting..

A couple years ago before the world shut down, I had a session with one of my favorite babes. She wanted a session in her new house, and left the creative direction to me!

Beth is one of our repeating customers, so she trusts putting creative freedom to me. To be fair, she is a total rock star both in front of the lens, and real life!

The only thing we didn’t account for was an overcast day. Her bathroom has a massive window which shines BEAUTIFUL natural defused lighting through it. Since the clouds and rain were out to play, we had to use my one continuous light, the incandescent lighting, and what little we got from the window.

After all the photos were placed next to each other, the lighting just wasn’t consistent enough from one spot to the next, and the mood was just begging for that noir style of editing. Thus, turning everything grey-scale.

It was a fun day, and I wish you could hear all the laughter and jokes between serious takes. Especially the last minute bdsm-themed ideas.

Just proof you don’t need an elaborate studio for some killer photos!
